The end of the first month

As I write it is January 31 and this morning I weighed myself and I am down by 5 pounds!
YAHOOO!!!!!
This is incredible!!
So what am I doing?
I am watching my portion sizes.
I am not eating as many carbs.
I am exercising. I use an elyptical trainer for 6 minutes and am working my way to increased amount of time and resistance.
I am not denying myself to the point of frustration. I enjoy my tea.
This is the first time in 25 years I have ever had any success with my weight.
25 pounds to go.

Yahooooo!





Today is the first day of the rest of my life!
It is Monday, January 17, 2011.
I weighed myself and discovered I lost 2 pounds!!!
And instead of "celebrating" by eating a piece of cake or chocolate chip cookie, I made a delicious salad. That in itself is a victory for me. The spinach salad had a little grated carrot, 1/2 diced avocado, 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese and 2 teaspoons homemade poppy seed dressing. I can't believe how fantastic this salad was.
The flavors just lept out at me. It was so good I plan to have it again tomorrow.

This year I am going to loose 30 pounds. I AM GOING TO LOOSE 30 POUNDS AND GAIN A HEALTHY AND VIBRANT LIFESTYLE!

I once had a blog entitled "Tea & Chocolate", if that tells you anything about me.

Later in the day I read an article on Yahoo about 8 people who blogged their weightloss with honesty. They had really good suggestions and one of them is blogging.
So here I start!
I am a 52 year old Mom and wife of almost 25 years with 8 living children. Life can be stressful and I have turned to tea and chocolate for consolation.
For all the world to know I currently weigh 168 pounds and am about 5 foot 5 inches.

Phew! That wasn't as hard as I expected.

Another suggestion was writing down everything you eat; and weighing your portions, and even photographing what you ate.

For breakfast I ate apple cinnamon oatmeat and a cup of apple cider vinegar-hot water and honey drink.(ACVHW)

For lunch I ate that delicious salad with a quarter of toasted onion bagel and a little butter, and another ACVHW.

For dinner I had a piece of tilapia fish and a cup of yogurt.

Now for my confession: I did have a couple bites of cake.

Not bad for a first day......the first day of the rest of my life.
